The disbursement of the “Because We Care” Education Cash Grant commenced this morning across Guyana, with a significant increase in the grant amount this year.

Each eligible student is receiving a total of 45,000 dollars, which includes a 40,000-dollar cash grant and a 5,000-dollar uniform allowance.

In Kingston, Georgetown, the distribution process was notably smooth at Westfield Prep School and Chase Academic Foundation on Parade Street, where parents gathered early to collect the grants for their children.

This program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, aims to provide essential financial support to families, helping them cover the costs of school supplies, uniforms, and other educational necessities.

Henry Chase, the principal of Chase Academic Foundation, expressed his gratitude towards the government for increasing the grant amount this year.

He highlighted the significant impact this financial assistance will have on parents, enabling them to better support their children’s education.

Dwayne Fifee, a parent of two children attending Chase Academic Foundation, shared his appreciation for the grant, stating that it will greatly assist in purchasing necessary school items like exercise books and other supplies.

The response to the cash grant program has been overwhelmingly positive, with many parents showing their appreciation for this valuable initiative.

The “Because We Care” program not only alleviates financial stress for families but also underscores the importance of education in shaping the nation’s future.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of Education is making a clear investment in the academic success of every student, ensuring they have the resources needed to thrive.
