Education in Guyana is undergoing a transformative shift, with substantial investments ensuring greater access and improvements for students and teachers, especially in Regions 9 and 4.
This is in line with President Irfaan Ali’s vision of equitable access to education across the country.
In Region 9, significant strides have been made, with the construction of seven new secondary schools, a historic achievement that ensures unprecedented access to education for students.
Regional Executive Officer Karl Singh emphasized that every teacher in the region is either trained or undergoing training, while accommodations and essential resources are being prioritized to ensure high-quality education.
Singh proudly shared that “every single village in the Rupununi now has access to education.”
Meanwhile, in Region 4, Regional Education Officer Keane Adams commended the government’s ongoing support in expanding educational infrastructure.
This includes two new secondary schools in Kaneville and Prospect, which together accommodate over 1,200 learners.
Adams also highlighted the addition of more classrooms to address growing enrollment numbers, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to meeting the region’s educational needs.
With these investments and a strong focus on inclusivity, Guyana’s education sector is poised to ensure that no child is left behind and that every teacher is equipped to inspire and shape the next generation of leaders.
