Easter Tradition: Kite Flying and Picnics Bring Joy to Guyana

Easter celebrations in Guyana concluded with the time-honored tradition of flying kites on Monday, symbolizing the resurrection of Christ.

Families and individuals of all ages gathered at the seawalls or the Botanical Gardens. among other open spaces, to enjoy kite flying, family picnics, photoshoots, and toy sales, creating a vibrant atmosphere along the coast.

One participant, Carl Melville, a seawall maintenance staff, expressed his enjoyment of the Easter festivities, highlighting the pleasure of seeing fellow Guyanese come together to enjoy the new surroundings at the beach.

Another family from Kuru Kururu shared their tradition of coming out to the Kingston seawall every year for picnics, relaxation, and enjoyment of the festivities.

Two fathers, Azad Khan and Oswald Sampson, spoke about the significance of kite flying beyond mere enjoyment, emphasizing its symbolic representation of the resurrection of Christ.

They expressed delight in spending time with their families and witnessing the colorful kites soaring in the sky.

In the Botanical Gardens, numerous families and friends gathered for picnics, basking in the glorious sunshine and cherishing the time spent together.
