-as President Ali demands timely delivery before Christmas
A meeting was held today at State House with Contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation, (CRBC), Consultants, Shaledia Associates, Inc., and engineers overseeing the rehabilitation and expansion of the eastbound public road.
During the discussion, President Dr. Irfaan Ali emphasised the importance of the project and the need to bring works back on schedule.
He noted that the project is currently about 62 per cent complete compared to the 78 per cent level it should have reached at this stage and called for a focused strategy to recover lost time. The contractor reported that works are ongoing on a 24-hour basis with additional crews to be deployed at the extreme end of the project from June 20 this year to accelerate progress.

The head of state directed that all areas where subsurface works have been completed be fully finished without delay. He also stressed the need to prioritise clearing encumbrances and ensuring prompt restoration of access to residents’ homes.
The project is expected to be completed before Christmas this year and will improve travel along the eastbound corridor, particularly for commuters using the route to and from the Cheddi-Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
