According to Brian Smith, Operations Lead at Dragonfly Drones and Geospatial Solutions, drone-assisted surveying is increasingly being used alongside traditional methods to enhance data collection, project monitoring, and hazard reduction.
The technology allows project managers and engineers to oversee multiple sites simultaneously, helping to streamline operations and improve decision-making.
Contractors have also been turning to drones to generate site plans before beginning construction, enabling faster assessment of site conditions, material measurements, and design compliance.
The demand for such services has grown as developers seek cost-effective and precise solutions for project planning and execution.
Additionally, there is a push to introduce drone technology into STEM education to equip younger generations with skills in surveying, geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing.
Industry experts believe that increasing awareness and training in this field will support the growth and modernization of the construction sector.
As drone technology continues to gain traction, its role in advancing infrastructure development in Guyana is expected to expand, offering new opportunities for efficiency and innovation in construction.
