The Drivers’ License process went online today during a launch at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.

This portal gives Guyanese the opportunity now to register, prepare for and sit the theoretical driver’s licence examination online.

The initiative, a partnership involving the Government of Guyana, the Ministries of Education, Home Affairs and Public Service, and the Guyana Digital School, will see students aged 16 among the first beneficiaries.

The newly launched digital driver’s licence portalis expected to make the process more accessible while improving transparency and accountability.

So says Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond.

Minister of Education Sonia Parag says the initiative goes beyond digitising an existing service, as driver’s education will also become part of the school curriculum.

“For the first time ever we are now transition from the Guyana police force to the Guyana digital school but why stop there? So for the first time we are bringing drivers education into our school system and that is something you should applaud because you who are going to be graduating from CSEC and CAPE in 2027 will have the benefit of writing these exams in the school system,” she said.

The launch of the Driver’s License Portal comes as Guyana observes Road safety month under the theme “”Every Life Matters, Every Road User Has a Responsibility.
