In a dramatic turn of events, 37-year-old Prince Sinclair of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was presented with a total of 12 charges, including causing bodily harm to a police officer, during his appearance at the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court.

Sinclair entered a plea of not guilty to all charges read against him, which ranged from disorderly behavior to dangerous driving and obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties.

The litany of charges included two counts of disorderly behavior, operating a motor car with registration PLL 4242 while neglecting to stop when instructed to do so by a police officer, failing to wear a seatbelt, failing to maintain all parts and accessories of motorcar PLL 4242 to prevent dangers to other road users, and causing bodily harm to a police officer.

Additionally, Sinclair was charged with stopping his motor car within 30 feet of the corner of Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, four counts of dangerous driving, and driving with excessive tints on his car that obstructed the identification of the driver and passengers.

Legal representation was provided by Attorney at Law, Tuanna Hardy, who asserted that Sinclair had parked his vehicle at a relative’s business when he was approached by the officer.

Hardy indicated that her client was willing to offer compensation to the injured officer, while maintaining his innocence regarding most of the charges.

The incident unfolded when the officer observed Sinclair’s car parked within 30 feet of Shoelane Street and Main Street, causing a traffic obstruction.

Upon informing Sinclair of the violation, he allegedly responded with a barrage of expletives, then proceeded to drive towards the officer, colliding with his right foot.

The officer fell onto the car bonnet, and Sinclair drove off. He was subsequently arrested on Republic Road.

Following the proceedings, Magistrate Renita Singh granted bail to the accused and ordered him to surrender his passport.

Sinclair is scheduled to return to court on October 27 for further proceedings.
