Bath Settlement is set for major infrastructure and community upgrades under the Government’s Model Village Initiative.
President Dr. Irfaan Ali says the project will also create new opportunities in agriculture, business and employment while improving safety and security.
Major drainage and road improvement works are planned for Bath Settlement as part of the Model Village Initiative.
President Dr. Irfaan Ali said the project will target infrastructure, drainage, bridges, street lighting and utility services across the community.
The planned works include road rehabilitation, drain construction, bridge upgrades and improved pedestrian access.
The initiative will also focus on creating green spaces and enhancing the overall appearance of the community.
“And the entirety of the works will include road rehabilitation, drain construction, bridge upgrade and rehab, the relocation and assessment of utility poles, and I think most importantly, visual enhancement of our community” said the Director of Government Efficiency and Implementation, Nigel Dharamlall.
Bath Settlement is expected to receive 55 fire hydrants as part of the infrastructure improvements planned under the Model Village Initiative.
The project will also include CCTV camera coverage across the community to enhance security.
Residents of Bath Settlement are being urged to play their part in maintaining the improvements planned under the Model Village Initiative.
“CCTV camera coverage. So, the entire area will have a CCTV camera coverage to help with the security. And in certain critical areas, we are encouraging what we call community watch,” President Ali said.
Residents of Bath Settlement are also expected to benefit from new economic opportunities under the Model Village Initiative.
Prsident Ali said the programme will focus on economic empowerment, jobs, agriculture and the development of agro-processing activities.
He proposed the creation of clusters for young people, including large hydroponics facilities, to boost production and reduce vulnerability to weather-related challenges.
