General Secretary of the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, has cautioned Guyanese citizens against falling prey to the political opposition’s tactics of manipulation and division.

Speaking at a memorial event for the late Dr. Cheddi Jagan, Jagdeo urged supporters not to be swayed by the opposition’s attempts to exploit emotions and sow discord.

Addressing a large gathering at Babu Jaan, Berbice, Dr. Jagdeo accused the Partnership for National Unity and Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) coalition of manipulating the sentiments of Guyanese to foster dissatisfaction with the current Irfaan Ali-led government.

He emphasized that significant progress has been achieved under the PPP/C government’s leadership in all communities, urging citizens not to be misled by claims of discrimination.

Dr. Jagdeo reaffirmed the PPP/C’s commitment to Dr. Cheddi Jagan’s vision of national unity and equal opportunities for all.

Under President Irfaan Ali’s leadership, the PPP/C remains dedicated to bringing together people of diverse backgrounds, considering it crucial for Guyana’s development and realization of its true potential.

Furthermore, Dr. Jagdeo accused the APNU of exploiting racism for political gain and selectively highlighting issues to manipulate their supporters’ emotions.

He encouraged Guyanese to stay informed about developments in various sectors and to look beyond sensational news headlines.

As Guyana continues its political journey, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo’s remarks underscore the importance of vigilance against divisive tactics and the need for unity and progress.
