Dominic Vincente, a key player for Guyana’s number one basketball team, the Ravens, is excited to represent his country on the international stage as part of Team Guyana for the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup 2024.
This weekend, he will compete in San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking his first national call-up.
Vincente, who has led the Ravens to two consecutive titles, expressed his excitement in a recent interview.
“It’s a surreal feeling because I’ve been working year in, year out, doing the little things that make a difference—winning tournaments, pulling my teammates together, and just overall being a better person,” he shared.
“I’m elated about this moment.”
Having played local 3×3 basketball with most of his teammates, Vincente is confident in their team chemistry heading into the tournament.
“It’s going to be great because we all have a feel for each other,” he said.
“We know basketball, and because we want to win, we’ll do whatever we can on and off the court—communicating, talking over game plans. I think we have a good chance.”
With his passion and basketball IQ, Vincente hopes to bring what was missing in past tournaments.
The team will be led by veteran Nikkoloi Smith, and includes Vincente, Travis Belgrave, and Harold Adams.
Guyana will face the Cayman Islands, Aruba, and Haiti in the qualifiers from December 12-15.
