Dominant Performances on Day One of the Squash One Guyana President’s Cup

The opening day of the Squash One Guyana President’s Cup at the National Racquet Center in Wolford Avenue saw dominant performances from Mary Fung-A-Fat, Alex Arjoon, and the Khalil siblings.

The doubles matchups brought exciting action, with the junior mixed doubles pair of Demetri Lowe and Safirah Sumner overcoming Malia Maikoo and Justin Goberdhan in a thrilling contest that ended 6-11, 11-8, 11-6.

The sibling rivalry took center stage next, as Ashley Khalil and Jason-Ray Khalil showcased their dominance, defeating Shomari Wiltshire and Larissa Wiltshire in straight sets, 11-9, 11-8.

In the mixed doubles event, Mary Fung-A-Fat and Alex Arjoon made quick work of Kirsten Gomes and Jonathan Antczak, winning 11-8, 11-8.

The competitive spirit continued as Demetri Lowe and Blake Edwards triumphed over Nidal Bacchus and Nijad Bacchus, winning 11-1, 11-3.

Deje Dias, the Game Committee Chair of the Guyana Squash Association, expressed excitement over the upcoming finals, anticipating an exciting conclusion to the tournament this weekend.

The action at the National Racquet Center will continue tonight as players compete for the coveted titles.
