Police investigators were called to an abandoned piece of land in Canje, Berbice, following the discovery of skeletal remains, including a skull.
The unsettling find was reported by a cane harvester to the Reliance Police Station after being stumbled upon earlier in the day.
According to eyewitness Sewkumar Balram, who was present at the scene, a gathering of approximately 20 individuals had congregated upon the discovery.
Balram recounted the event, expressing reluctance to approach the site personally.
Upon notification, police officers promptly visited the location, where the remains were pointed out to them.
Regional Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus confirmed the police response, indicating that the skeletal remains and the skull were subsequently removed by investigators.
As of now, investigations into the discovery are ongoing.
