The much-anticipated distribution of the $35,000 cash grant for persons with permanent disabilities is set to begin next week, as announced by Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud.

This one-off grant, part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support individuals with disabilities, is expected to benefit many across the nation.

The distribution will start on Monday, January 20, and continue through Friday, January 24, at designated locations including the Egbert Benjamin Conference Centre on the Mckenzie shore and the Bayroc Community Centre at Wismar on January 27 and 28, 2025.

Minister Persaud made the announcement while engaging with citizens at the Region 10 Probation Office in Linden, where she also worked closely with ministry staff and the region’s Board of Guardians to address issues faced by the community.

The grant, totaling approximately $875 million, is aimed at helping those on the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Disability Register.

The announcement of this special cash grant was made by President Irfaan Ali in December 2024.

Dr. Persaud highlighted that the distribution of the grant is part of a nationwide effort to ensure a smooth process for beneficiaries while addressing any challenges in accessing the support services.
