With the success of the initial national Electronic Health Record (EHR) and online appointment system roll out, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, has confirmed the next phase is underway.

In an exclusive interview with NCN News, the Minister of Health noted the successful roll out of the Electronic Health Records and online appointment systems pilot program at the Festival City Poly clinic.

Building on this momentum, the Ministry is now initiating a phased implementation at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

We have now moved to the Georgetown hospital very soon at the Georgetown hospital those persons coming to the medical out patients would be able to make their appointments able to go there and get their records in a digitalized form and so forth,” the minister said.

Minister Anthony also highlighted that the Georgetown Hospital is undergoing a department-by-department digital transformation. These software updates are key to modernizing the facility and ensuring it thrives in the country’s evolving digital landscape.

“We have a notional time frame but these things because of the way that we are implementing each department we want to customize the software to make sure that the data they are collecting would be relevant to that department,” Dr Anthony further explained.

As part of the 2026 National Budget, the Government has committed $764 million to the phased nationwide rollout of the EHR system. This investment marks a critical leap in modernizing patient care and ensuring improved service to the people, through digital transformation.
