After spending 35 years in the United States, mechanical engineer Bob Ghamandi has returned to Guyana with a mission to contribute to the country’s growth.
Through his company, Compass Industrial Services, Ghamandi has secured a contract with Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) to manufacture industrial water filters locally, supporting the government’s expanding water treatment initiatives.
Ghamandi’s decision to produce these filters within Guyana is driven by the desire to reduce reliance on imports.
He is confident that all necessary components for the filters can be sourced and produced locally, adding value to the domestic economy and creating jobs.
Ghamandi lauded the 2025 national budget, expressing optimism that the business climate in Guyana will continue to improve, allowing him to further expand his operations.
His investment reflects the growing trend of members of the Guyanese diaspora returning to invest in their homeland’s development, especially in key sectors like infrastructure and water treatment.
Additionally, the country’s Diaspora Unit is expanding its efforts to attract investment by targeting new overseas territories and exploring opportunities in emerging industries.
