Diamond Residents Praise Rehabilitation of 75 Roads by Public Works Ministry

Residents of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, have expressed their appreciation for the recent rehabilitation of 75 roads, a project executed by the Special Projects Unit of the Ministry of Public Works.

The infrastructural upgrades, which have significantly improved the road network in the housing scheme, were inspected by Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, over the weekend.

Minister Edghill detailed that the project covered a total length of 25 kilometers and cost approximately 690 million Guyanese dollars.

The extensive works aimed to enhance the commuting experience for residents and were part of a commitment made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali.

Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Residents noted the drastic improvements, with many highlighting the poor condition of the roads prior to rehabilitation.

One resident remarked that the roads had been in a deplorable state for the past decade, while another expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the work done.

The rehabilitation work included upgrades on 7th Avenue, 21st Avenue, and various roads in Avenues A and B at the front of the housing scheme.

The project commenced in February and was successfully completed on September 18.

This initiative marks a significant investment in local infrastructure, promising to enhance daily life for Diamond’s residents and improve accessibility within the community.
