The Dependents’ Pension Fund marked its 100th anniversary over the weekend, commemorating a century since its establishment.
Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh acknowledged and paid tribute to the visionary individuals who conceived the idea and transformed it into a reality a century ago.
Since its inception in 1923, the Dependents’ Pension Fund has provided essential support to numerous public servants in Guyana. Presently, it disburses pensions to over 2,750 beneficiaries, including widows, widowers, and children of former public officers who contributed to the fund.
During the anniversary celebration, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh expressed gratitude to the individuals who have played a pivotal role in maintaining and preserving the fund throughout the years. He also emphasized the importance of examining the institution to identify potential enhancements as Guyana’s landscape continues to evolve.
As part of the anniversary festivities, several directors who play crucial roles in the fund’s daily operations, along with long-serving staff members, were honored for their contributions.
