Dengue Outbreak in Region Six

By Royan Abrams

Efforts are underway to combat the rising number of dengue cases in Region Six, with the current count reaching 162. Regional Chairman David Armogan provided an update on the situation, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance and preventive measures.

Residents are urged to exercise caution due to the presence of mosquitoes, which have contributed to the surge in dengue cases across Region Six.

Chairman David Armogan highlighted that the majority of cases are concentrated in areas such as Rampoor, Line Path, Number 64 Village, Angoys Avenue, Tucber, and Vrymans Erven in New Amsterdam.

Armogan revealed that there is a shortage of mosquito repellent, known as shoo, in local shops due to the heightened mosquito activity.

To address the situation, the Ministry of Health has intensified fogging exercises across the region.

Armogan announced plans to approach the Ministry of Public Health to request additional fogging machines and seek assistance from the private sector to enhance fogging efforts.

Furthermore, Armogan stressed the importance of ensuring the effectiveness of the chemicals used in the fogging exercises.

Efforts to combat the dengue outbreak in Region Six are ongoing, with authorities actively working to safeguard residents and mitigate the spread of the disease.
