Demerara Cricket Club Secures Commanding Victory in GCA and Friends 2nd Division Tournament

In a dominating display of skill both with the bat and ball, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) emerged victorious in the GCA and Friends Second Division tournament over the weekend.

Playing on their home turf, DCC showcased their prowess by first dismissing the Guyana Police Force team for a mere 89 runs in 27 overs.

Leading the way for the police team were Troy Benn (19), Damuka Junior (18), and Troy Leitch (16), but wickets fell rapidly.

Carlton Jacques shone for DCC, claiming three wickets for 20 runs in seven overs, supported by Kareem Whitney, Ezekiel Wilson, and Jaden Dowlin with one scalp each.

In response, DCC displayed formidable batting strength, posting a commanding 246 for 4 in 40.5 overs.

Openers Brandon Jaikaran (87) and Jonathan Van-Lange (89) set the tone, while all-rounder Inderjit Nanan contributed a quick 53.

Kyle Michael managed to take two wickets for 40 runs, with Troy Benn securing one.

With a substantial lead of 159 runs, the Guyana Police Force team faltered again, being dismissed for 139, resulting in an innings defeat by 20 runs.

Jaden Dowlin claimed four wickets for 35 runs, Carlton Jacques took three for 29, and Ezekiel Wilson bagged two for 41.

Ameer Mohamed (37), Leon Crawford (24), and Chemroy Kendall (23) were the top scorers for the police team.

In another two-day match, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) triumphed over Ace Warriors by nine wickets.

After posting a solid 266 for 9 in 46 overs, GDF bowled out Ace Warriors for a mere 78 runs in 23.5 overs.

Despite following on, Ace Warriors managed to score 216 runs in 52.4 overs.

However, GDF easily chased down the target of 33 runs for victory, losing just one wicket in 3.2 overs.

With these commanding performances, both DCC and GDF showcased their dominance in the GCA and Friends Second Division tournament, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of cricket action.
