In a thrilling final of the Demerara leg of the Republic Bank Limited Nationwide Under-23 Inter-Club Super50 Tournament, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) emerged victorious, led by the exceptional performance of Inderjeet Nanan.

Opting to bat first, DCC posted a total of 207 runs, with Inderjeet Nanan showcasing an impressive innings of 55 runs from 61 balls, complemented by Nkosi Beaton’s contribution of 43 runs. Nanan’s elegant display included 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Beaton’s batting prowess was evident in his 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Despite a brief setback, Ezekiel Wilson’s unbeaten 30 runs ensured a competitive total for DCC. Ushardena Balgobin of West Demerara stood out with a commendable bowling performance, securing 5 wickets for 39 runs from his 10 overs.

In pursuit of 208 for victory, West Demerara faced a tough challenge and eventually succumbed to a total of 170 all out. Sachin Balgobin exhibited a valiant effort with an impressive 75 runs from 82 balls, featuring 8 fours and a six. However, he received little support from his teammates.

Demerara’s bowlers, led by Daniel Mootoo’s 3 wickets for 29 runs, along with notable contributions from Kareem Whitney and Jonathan Van Lange, maintained consistent pressure on the West Demerara batsmen throughout the innings.

DCC’s triumph in the Demerara leg secures their spot in the national playoff, where they will face Albion. The victor will advance to the final against North Essequibo, the champions of Essequibo, in a highly anticipated showdown.
