The Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Under-19 Inter-Association tournament is poised to commence on March 2, featuring four teams ready to showcase their talent.

Ahead of the tournament, Nicholas Shiopersad, captain of the East Coast U19 team, expressed readiness for the challenge that lies ahead.

Shiopersad, who led the U17 East Coast team to victory last year, aims to elevate his performance in the U19 category.

He emphasized the confidence boost gained from their previous success, highlighting the continuity of players from the U17 team to the U19 squad.

Shiopersad believes that with unity and maximum effort from his team, they stand a chance to emerge victorious in the upcoming tournament.

While Shiopersad harbors aspirations of representing Guyana and playing cricket at the highest levels, including the West Indies and IPL, he remains focused on the immediate goals.

His current focus revolves around taking each game step by step, starting with the inter-association tournament, followed by the inter-county matches, and eventually aiming for Guyana representation.

Shiopersad emphasized his preparation, which includes enhancing his fitness and fine-tuning his batting technique to ensure comfort and confidence during matches.

The East Coast Cricket Association team, led by Shiopersad, is scheduled to face the East Bank Cricket Association in their opening match on March 2.

With anticipation building for the start of the tournament, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the thrilling displays of talent and competition that the DCB Under-19 Inter-Association tournament promises to deliver.
