President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Dr. Kishore Shallow, has expressed his satisfaction with the batting performances in the ongoing CWI Regional Four-Day tournament.
Dr. Shallow, speaking on local program Sean Devers Sports Watch, highlighted that in just three rounds of the tournament, batters from across the Caribbean have scored 19 centuries, including two double centuries.
Dr. Shallow attributed the strong performances to the improved conditions in the region, noting that batters appear to be more prepared and fitter, which is contributing to the higher scores.
He emphasized that the demand for better batting pitches in the Caribbean has been a long-standing call, and these results suggest progress in that area.
With the tournament now on a break, the CWI president expressed hope that players who have already registered centuries will continue their good form, and those yet to achieve big scores will return with a determined mindset to do so.
In addition to discussing the tournament’s progress, Dr. Shallow touched on recent changes to the CWI’s player selection procedures.
He outlined how the new data-driven system, which includes player scouting, will provide greater accountability and help identify emerging talent at an earlier stage.
