Cricket West Indies Announces New Domestic T20 Tournament and Landmark Agreement with Caribbean Cage

December 17, 2024

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled plans for a new domestic T20 tournament set to launch in 2025.

This announcement was made during the organization’s quarterly press conference on Monday.

The inaugural tournament is aimed at unearthing emerging T20 talents from across the region.

Scheduled for April to May 2025, it will focus on providing a platform for up-and-coming players to showcase their skills in the fast-paced format.

CWI’s Director, Miles Bascombe, confirmed that the event will be supported by the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

In a parallel development, CWI also signed a significant long-term agreement with Caribbean Cage, one of the region’s leading betting companies.

The partnership is projected to generate an estimated US $100 million for CWI over the first decade.

Caribbean Cage will provide virtual betting and other services, contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the organization.

Robert Washington, Chairman and CEO of Caribbean Cage, expressed his enthusiasm about the agreement, highlighting its potential financial impact, which is expected to benefit both CWI and participating governments.

With the dual announcements, CWI aims to expand its footprint in the cricketing world, providing new opportunities for players and increasing the financial resources available to the sport in the Caribbean.
