Cricket Carnival Kicks Off at Cheddi Jagan International Airport

The 2024 Guyana Leg of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has officially commenced, bringing excitement and high spirits to visitors for the Cricket Carnival events.

To launch the festivities, a welcome party was held at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, where arriving passengers were greeted with tokens and a vibrant atmosphere.

This event was organized in collaboration with the Guyana Tourism Authority, various Cricket Carnival sponsors, and One Communications (formerly GTT).

NCN News was present at the airport, capturing the joyful reactions of passengers arriving for the celebrations.

Passengers expressed their enthusiasm for the carnival activities, with one visitor sharing their excitement about the festivities coinciding with their birthday.

Others voiced their hopes for the local Amazon Warriors team to secure victory in the championship.

Shunza Samuels, Public Relations Officer at CJIA, noted the anticipated influx of visitors coming home for the Cricket Carnival and highlighted the airport’s commitment to supporting Guyana Tourism in showcasing these events.

This marks the third consecutive year that Guyana is hosting the Semi-Finals and Finals of the CPL, and visitors can look forward to a variety of attractions designed to enhance their experience.

Upcoming events include the One Guyana Concert, Horse Racing, Pan on the Beach, the Guyana Fashion Showcase, a Regional Food Festival, and more, all culminating on October 6.
