The Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) continues to receive accolades for its recent advancements, as teachers celebrate the introduction of new courses and expanded accessibility.

These developments were highlighted during CPCE’s 90th graduation ceremony, where 1,502 educators officially entered Guyana’s teaching workforce.

The Education Minister underscored the government’s commitment to improving the education sector, citing significant progress in teacher deployment as a key outcome of CPCE’s efforts.

These strides are expected to reduce the student-to-teacher ratio across the country.

Graduates and educators lauded CPCE for adding courses in music, literature, special education needs, and technical and vocational education.

Additionally, health and physical education offerings have been expanded to benefit both coastal and hinterland centers, ensuring more equitable access to teacher training.

Graduates expressed their appreciation for the changes. Best Overall Graduating Student Fiona Sharma acknowledged the importance of adapting to modern demands and commended the new courses for empowering educators with knowledge.

Shawn Marks, another graduate, emphasized the transformative impact of education initiatives across all levels.

Graduate Kissandra Pitt highlighted the value of increased access, noting that these measures offer equal opportunities to learners nationwide.

Delicia Solomon also appreciated the inclusion of hinterland areas, which now benefit from improved internet connectivity and resources to enhance education delivery.

This year’s graduating class included six mother-and-daughter pairs and thirteen members of the Guyana Police Force, who are now certified to teach adult learners.

The ceremony marked a significant step in Guyana’s drive to strengthen its education system, particularly in underserved areas, through innovative and inclusive approaches.
