Courts Pee Wee School Football Championship Returns

The tenth edition of the Courts Pee Wee School football championship is set to kick off on September 23rd.

This eagerly anticipated event will feature 32 teams competing in the under 11 category.

The Ministry of Education ground will serve as the venue for the tournament.

Organized by the Petra organisation, the championship receives strong support from Courts Optical, which holds the title sponsorship.

This longstanding partnership has been instrumental in the success of the tournament.

In this year’s competition, teams will be grouped into eight sections of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the elimination round.

While the final list of participating schools is yet to be confirmed, potential contenders include Ann’s Grove, Enterprise, F.E. Pollard, Marian Academy, North Georgetown, Redeemer, Soesdyke, Sophia, St. Pius, Timehri, Westminster, West Ruimveldt, and Winfer Gardens.

Troy Mendonca, Co-Director of Petra Organisation, expressed gratitude to Courts for their continuous support and highlighted the positive impact the tournament has had on the young participants over the past decade.

Nicholas Fraser, Head of the Unit of Allied Arts at the Ministry of Education, emphasized their commitment to furthering the growth of the sport, aiming for continuous enhancement.

Richard Simpson, Optical Chain Manager at Unicomer Guyana, acknowledged the significant role the company plays in youth football development through this partnership.

The tournament will kick off on September 23rd, with the final scheduled for October 28th. This event promises to be an exciting platform for young talent to showcase their skills and passion for football.
