Corriverton Recreational Park Inaugurated by President Irfaan Ali

President Dr. Irfaan Ali officially inaugurated the Corriverton Recreational Park over the weekend, a project costing over 100 million dollars.

The park is designed to serve as a safe and comfortable space for families to spend quality recreational time and will also host national events, contributing to economic and tourism activities in the region.

The facility boasts a spacious parking lot, dedicated children’s play areas, a walkway, seating arrangements, and restroom facilities, among other amenities.

President Ali highlighted the park’s strategic importance, anticipating its draw for visitors not only from the region but also neighboring Suriname.

He emphasized that it will stimulate growth in the hospitality and small business sectors. In response to concerns about the park’s potential misuse, President Ali assured that clear guidelines would be established and made public, with enforcement measures in place.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, underscored that the creation of the park addresses the compassionate aspect of development, emphasizing the significance of prioritizing the well-being, happiness, and relaxation of the community alongside essential infrastructure projects.

Situated opposite the Corriverton Market and adjacent to the Corentyne River, the project was led by First Lady Arya Ali.

This initiative reflects a forward-looking approach to community development, combining essential infrastructure with spaces that nurture community well-being and social interaction.
