Corentyne Youth Vinay Punwa Admitted to the Bar

Vinay Punwa, a resident of Corentyne and recent graduate of Hugh Wooding Law School, was admitted to the bar this week in the Supreme Court of Judicature before Justice Priscilla Chandra-Hanif.

Vinay, son of the Headteacher at Golden Grove Secondary, expressed that becoming a lawyer fulfills his lifelong passion, and he plans to establish his practice in Skeldon, Region 6, starting October 14.

In his remarks, Vinay shared his enthusiasm for criminal law and trial advocacy, citing integrity as a guiding principle in his career.

He also expressed gratitude to his mentors for their support and guidance throughout his journey.

During the ceremony, Justice Chandra-Hanif advised Vinay on the core values of honesty, integrity, and responsibility within the legal profession.

She reminded him of the importance of maintaining a solid reputation, even when financial temptations arise.

She further stressed that the legal profession demands a deep commitment to every client and advised him to select mentors and associates wisely to support his growth.

Justice Hanif concluded by encouraging Punwa to remain diligent and humble, as law requires ongoing learning and dedication.
