The ongoing dispute over Linden Town Week 2024’s dates and operations has escalated, with Town Clerk Lennox Gasper alleging that the Mayor and Town Council appointed committee is illegal and attempting to exclude his office from the planning process.

On the ‘Region Ten in Focus’ program on NCN Linden, Gasper expressed his lack of awareness regarding the Town Week dates until he saw a flyer on the Deputy Mayor’s Facebook page.

Gasper, appointed as Town Clerk in November 2023 and confirmed in January 2024, believes the delay in the event’s launch is linked to his appointment, emphasizing the council’s refusal to recognize him.

Gasper revealed that an extraordinary meeting intended for Town Week discussions took an unexpected turn, with an illegal motion being moved and voted on, derailing the proceedings.

He insisted that while he supports Linden Town Week, its planning and execution must adhere to legal procedures.

The Town Clerk urged residents and vendors to engage with the Town Clerk’s office for all Town Week-related matters.

Gasper also assured the public that a comprehensive financial report would be released within forty-eight hours after the conclusion of Town Week.

As the stalemate continues, the controversy surrounding Linden Town Week highlights the need for transparent and legally compliant event planning processes.
