Construction Progresses on Diamond Regional Smart Hospital

By Delicia Janneire

The construction of the new Diamond Regional Smart Hospital is making significant strides, with the physical structure now prominently taking shape.

Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony provided an update on the project during a recent site visit, noting that the hospital’s framework is well underway.

Walls are being erected, and the layout of the rooms is becoming increasingly visible.

The project remains on schedule, with completion expected by December or, at the latest, the first quarter of next year.

The 75-bed facility will feature three operating theatres equipped with basic surgical capabilities.

It will also include advanced digital systems such as a full radiology diagnostic suite, aligning it with the standards of the New Amsterdam and Linden hospitals.

Additionally, the hospital will offer a 24-hour accident and emergency unit and state-of-the-art laboratories.

The facility is anticipated to serve over 40,000 residents in the surrounding area.

The construction is being carried out by the China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm).
