Construction of Government Office Complex to Begin Tower Installation on January 14

Jan 2, 2025

The installation of the first tower at the Government’s Office Complex is set to begin on January 14, according to Project Consultant, Chaman Basdeo.

This announcement was made during a recent site visit by Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill.

The 15.8-billion-dollar project, which will feature a 12-storey office building, has faced some delays, with work running 10% behind schedule due to geotechnical challenges that needed to be addressed.

However, Basdeo assured that efforts are being made to recover the lost time. Installation of the towers will begin in two weeks, with piles for Tower One already mobilized to the site.

Work on the central utility building will also commence alongside the installation.

Minister Edghill emphasized the importance of maintaining strict quality control throughout the project.

He highlighted that Carissa Gooding, the Project Manager, would travel to facilities manufacturing the steel components for on-site testing and inspection before shipment to Guyana.

The office complex, which will accommodate up to 6,000 staff members, will also feature a large parking facility and a central utility complex.

The project is expected to be completed by August 2026.
