Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, has strongly condemned acts of bullying and violence among children.

This follows the tragic death of a nine-year-old, who was reportedly assaulted by a teenage cousin.

According to Dr. Persaud, the incident underscores an urgent need for parents, guardians, and communities to pay closer attention to emotional and behavioral changes in children.

The Minister urged adults to intervene early, teach empathy, and create safe environments where children can speak openly about their struggles.

From the Ministry’s point of view, efforts continue to strengthen child protection programmes and reporting mechanisms, expand counselling and psychosocial support, and push national awareness campaigns in schools and communities.
