Guyanese consumers are presented with various bargains at markets across the country, as highlighted by a comparative pricing analysis conducted by NCN Producer, Linden Davidson.
Visiting several markets, including Bourda, Mon Repos, Parika, and Rosignol, Davidson explored the prices of different food items to provide insights into market trends.
Scarcity emerged as the primary factor influencing prices across the markets. Davidson engaged with vendors who shared their pricing strategies and provided breakdowns of prices for various commodities.
For instance, the price of plantains ranged from $240 to $300 per pound, depending on the market location, while cabbage prices fluctuated between $200 and $600 per pound.
At the Parika Market, Davidson conversed with a vendor who disclosed their pricing strategy, offering cabbage at $400 per pound.
In addition to vegetables, Davidson also investigated meat prices, particularly at the Bourda Market.
There, a vendor informed Davidson that chicken was priced at $440 per pound, highlighting the current market conditions.
The comparative pricing exercise conducted by NCN sheds light on the dynamics of market prices, providing valuable information for consumers seeking affordable options.
By understanding market trends, consumers can make informed decisions and capitalize on available bargains.
