Georgetown, on Saturday, witnessed a vibrant celebration of Guyanese culture and creativity as students from across the nation showcased their talents in the annual Children’s Mashramani Costume and Float Parade.
More than 20 bands, comprising enthusiastic students adorned in brightly colored costumes, paraded through the streets, captivating the hearts of spectators lining every corner.
From the Parade Ground to the National Park, the young masqueraders marched with joy and passion, showcasing their elaborate costumes and floats to an eager audience.
As the bands reached the National Park, they gave their best performances before a panel of judges, displaying a range of themes including social, environmental, and agricultural topics.
In a highly competitive event, the Education Department of Region Six claimed the coveted first place, followed by the Education Departments of Region Ten in second place and Region Four in third place.
In addition to the main competition, children also participated in various categories such as primary and secondary bands, individual bands, and other children’s organizations, adding to the diversity and vibrancy of the parade.
The event not only celebrated Guyana’s rich cultural heritage but also provided a platform for young talents to shine and express themselves creatively.
As the streets of Georgetown burst with color and energy, the Children’s Mashramani Parade once again proved to be a highlight of the nation’s cultural calendar, bringing together communities and fostering a sense of unity and pride.
