Cliff Anderson Sports Hall to be Completed Next Month, Says Minister Ramson Jr.

By Travis Seymour

Minister of Sport Charles Ramson Jr. has announced that the rehabilitation of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall is expected to be completed by next month.

Responding to a query from opposition member Nima Flu Bess, Minister Ramson Jr. stated that only a small portion of the project remains unfinished.

The ongoing renovation work includes the installation of HVAC systems and final interior finishes, with completion targeted for September 30.

The minister noted that delays in procuring air conditioning units have impacted the timeline, but these issues are being resolved through discussions with relevant companies.

The rehabilitation of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall aligns with President Ali’s vision to establish Guyana as a premier destination for world-class events.

Since the project’s inception, a total of $47 million was spent in 2022, $237 million in 2023, and $8 million has been spent so far in 2024, with an additional $59 million budgeted for the remaining work.

This modernization effort is seen as a key component in advancing Guyana’s sports infrastructure and accommodating corporate sponsors effectively.
