Clarendon College and Chase Academy are emerging as strong title contenders in the KFC Goodwill Schools Football Tournament following dominant performances on Tuesday at the Ministry of Education ground.
In the first match of the day, reigning champions Clarendon College, hailing from Jamaica, showed their quality as they crushed Dolphin Secondary from Georgetown with an emphatic 11-0 victory.
Nicoloy Forbes was the standout performer, scoring a remarkable four goals in the first half.
The Jamaican side got off to a quick start, with Naval Anderson and Justin Clarke putting them ahead in the 7th and 9th minutes, respectively.
Forbes then added his goals in the 15th, 21st, 27th, and 36th minutes to take a commanding 6-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Forbes continued his goal-scoring spree with strikes in the 50th, 51st, and 60th minutes, while Chevon Watson and Dameon Simms completed the scoring, rounding off an impressive 11-0 win.
In the feature match, local rivals Chase Academy took on D.C. Ceasar Fox Secondary in what was a tense encounter.
After a cagey start, Chase took the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to a strike from Omar Sam.
The Georgetown-based team extended their advantage in the 35th minute through Bryan Wharton, making it 2-0 at halftime.
Chase continued to dominate in the second half, with Jordon Reid scoring in the 59th minute to make it 3-0.
Sam added a second goal in the 63rd minute before Wharton scored two more goals in the 80th and 83rd minutes, completing the 6-0 victory for Chase.
Other results from the day saw a thrilling 4-4 draw between Speyside High of Tobago and Annai Secondary, while St. Benedict College from Trinidad triumphed over Henry Hassankhan Community College from Suriname with a 6-0 win.
