The Civil Aviation Training School (CATS) in Guyana has achieved a significant milestone by earning international accreditation from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

This accreditation officially recognizes CATS as a member of the ICAO TRAINAIR Plus Programme, a global initiative that promotes the use of modern, competency-based training techniques in aviation.

The achievement underscores the government’s continued investment in the aviation sector, bolstering Guyana’s reputation on the global stage.

According to the Minister with responsibility for the sector, Juan Edghill, this recognition reflects growing international confidence in Guyana’s aviation capabilities, as the country continues to expand its expertise and infrastructure.

The accreditation also highlights the Civil Aviation Training School’s growing prominence.

Principal Clifford Van Doimen described the achievement as a major step forward, enhancing the school’s global eligibility.

It now offers opportunities for international students seeking high-quality aviation training in Guyana, as well as for local students looking to join the aviation sector.

This year, CATS recorded its highest success rate to date, with 23 out of 25 students successfully completing certification in various aviation disciplines.

The accreditation is expected to further solidify the school’s position as a hub for aviation training, attracting students from both Guyana and abroad, while providing internationally recognized qualifications.
