Citizens Connect app resolves hundreds of issues nationwide

Of the approximately 1,200 community-related concerns lodged by residents on the Citizens Connect App since its launch in March, more than 875 have been resolved.

Citizens have used the app to report matters relating to garbage collection, drainage, community infrastructure, house lot applications and cash grant queries.

In an interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI) on Thursday, Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, noted that many of the reports were directed to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development because of the nature of the concerns.

To ensure efficiency, he said, dedicated teams have been assigned within ministries to respond directly to citizens and provide updates on the status of their issues.

The Citizens Connect app allows citizens to:

• Report community and government-related concerns directly from their mobile devices

• Upload photographs and geolocation details to pinpoint issues accurately

• Track the progress of submitted reports in real time

• Receive direct feedback and updates from the relevant ministries

Once submitted, the reports are reviewed by the Ministry of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Implementation before being forwarded to the relevant ministry for action.

Citizens can also monitor the progress of their reports through a built-in feedback system that provides real-time updates.

Minister Ally described the platform as transformative for governance and service delivery in Guyana.
