Chinese New Year Celebrated in Linden with Food Festival

Food Festival rings in Chinese New Year

The Chinese Medical Brigade in Linden marked the arrival of the Chinese New Year with a Food Festival attended by locals.

Held at the team’s residence in Watooka, the cultural event featured medical professionals and Linden residents participating in the celebrations.

Surgeon Dr. Wu Tem Fum, the Head of the Team, shared that the food festival was organized to welcome the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing warmth and hope.

The dragon is considered a powerful and fortunate symbol in Chinese culture.

The festival showcased the Wuxi (wooshi) food culture, introducing attendees to various Chinese cuisines, including soups, dried bamboo, beef and pork chops, dumplings, tofu, and vegetables.

Dr. Wu expressed the team’s happiness in sharing the Chinese culture and culinary traditions with Guyanese residents who particularly enjoy sweet foods.

As part of the celebration, the Chinese Medical Brigade is also commemorating 30 years of partnership with the Linden Hospital complex.
