The Chinese Medical Team, in collaboration with the Guyana/China Friendship Society and the Embassy of China, recently organized an open day event to highlight the services provided by the medical team in Guyana.
During the open day event, attendees, including children from various high schools in regions three and four, had the opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange, educational sessions, and games, among other activities.
Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Guo Haiyan, emphasized the significance of the initiative in raising awareness about the work of the medical team and fostering understanding between the Chinese and Guyanese communities.
Ambassador Guo Haiyan described the event as a valuable opportunity for both Guyanese and local Chinese individuals to learn more about the activities and life of the Chinese medical team in Guyana.
He expressed gratitude to the local community for their continuous support.
Paul Cheong, President of the Guyana/China Friendship Society, commended the contributions of the Chinese Medical Team to the healthcare sector in Guyana.
He acknowledged the team’s efforts in introducing new and enhanced techniques for medical operations and treatments, complementing the government’s initiatives in the health sector.
This open day event marked the first of four to be held this month, with a medical outreach planned in conjunction with the West Demerara Regional Hospital on April 30.
The strong relationship between Guyana and China, established since formal diplomatic ties were established in 1972, has flourished over the years, particularly in the healthcare sector.
The China Medical Team has been providing specialized medical services in Guyana since 1993, contributing significantly to the advancement of healthcare delivery in the country.
Their ongoing efforts underscore the deepening friendship and collaboration between the two nations.
