The Cheddi Jagan Research Centre convened a roundtable discussion today to commemorate the life and legacy of the late President, Dr. Cheddi Jagan, on the 27th anniversary of his passing.
Administrator of the Centre, Indranie Chanderpal, emphasized the importance of preserving Dr. Jagan’s legacy, reflecting on his significant contributions to Guyana’s independence and democracy.
Chanderpal announced that, in line with this mission, the Centre will soon screen a documentary on Dr. Jagan’s life and work.
She extended an invitation to the public to attend the screening, scheduled for March 22nd, which marks Dr. Jagan’s birthday.
Dr. Cheddi Jagan, often referred to as the ‘Son of the soil’ and the ‘Father of the Nation,’ was the founder of the People’s Progressive Party and served as Guyana’s third executive President from October 1992 until his passing on March 6, 1997.
This initiative by the Cheddi Jagan Research Centre aims to ensure that the remarkable legacy of Dr. Jagan continues to inspire and educate present and future generations about his enduring contributions to Guyana’s history and development.
