The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) is set to host its highly anticipated ‘Welcome Vibes’ extravaganza for the second time, marking the kickoff of Cricket Carnival 2023. In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, this event promises an atmosphere filled with vibrant energy, excitement, and eager anticipation for the Cricket Carnival.

CJIA’s Public Relations Officer, Shunza Samuels, announced exciting new additions to this year’s festivities. The event will feature cultural performances, including the melodic sounds of steel pan music, as well as snack packs showcasing a selection of local products.

Samuels emphasized that ‘Welcome Vibes’ aligns perfectly with the promotion of the ‘One Guyana’ policy, fostering unity and celebration among all attendees. The event is not limited to passengers alone; it will also be open to family and friends who are there to welcome arriving passengers.

In 2022, Guyana experienced a record-breaking surge in arrivals during the month of September, driven by the excitement of the Cricket Carnival. The CJIA reported that over 31,050 international passengers arrived in Guyana last year, and this number is expected to rise even higher in 2023.

As ‘Welcome Vibes’ gears up to welcome visitors from around the world, the event promises to be a dynamic celebration of Guyana’s rich culture and the spirit of cricket.
