The Republic Bank Limited U-18 School Football League will culminate on Sunday with a thrilling final between the table leaders and defending champions, Chase Academy, and the challengers, Dolphin Secondary.
The two schools are tied on 18 points after five rounds, but Chase Academy holds a slight advantage due to a superior goal difference.
A ‘face-off’ event was held at Republic Bank’s Sports Club on Wednesday, featuring the two teams’ captains: Brayan Wharton from Chase Academy and Brian Brower from Dolphin Secondary.
Both captains expressed confidence in their teams’ readiness for the decisive match.
Dolphin Secondary’s coach, Ranole Bourne, shared that his team has been working diligently in training and will be fully prepared for the final.
Similarly, Oronde Chase, representing Chase Academy, emphasized that his team has been through this journey before and is focused on securing the victory.
The 2024 champions will receive a $300,000 grant for their school to fund a project, along with a trophy and medals, while the runner-up will be awarded $200,000.
Republic Bank’s representative, Onika Austin, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth sports, and Petra Organization’s Director, Troy Mendonca, underscored the importance of such league tournaments in fostering the development of youth football.
The highly anticipated final will be held at the Ministry of Education ground on Sunday.
