Demerara continues their unbeaten run in this year’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Males Super50, with a thrilling victory over Berbice, thanks to a strong century partnership between Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Matthew Nandu.

The two navigated early batting troubles and secured a comfortable win at the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, Bourda.

Berbice won the toss and opted to bat but suffered a disastrous start, being bowled out for just 129 in 40 overs.

Junior Sinclair (37) and wicketkeeper Tomani Caesar (24) were the top scorers for Berbice.

Demerara’s bowlers were in top form, with Devon Lord claiming 4 wickets for 28 runs in 9 overs, supported by Ronaldo Ali Mohamed, Benard Bailey, and Akshaya Persaud, each taking 2 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 130, Demerara lost early wickets, including Raymond Perez (0) and captain Tevin Imlach (3).

However, Chanderpaul and Nandu steadied the ship, putting on a solid partnership of 119 runs.

Chanderpaul remained unbeaten on 63, while Nandu contributed 44 runs.

Speaking after the match, Chanderpaul reflected on the team’s back-to-back wins, emphasizing the importance of taking it one game at a time as they look forward to their next match against Essequibo on Thursday.
