Celebrating International Day of Yoga in New Amsterdam

The International Day of Yoga was joyously observed on June 21 with a serene and invigorating session organized by the High Commission of India and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center at the Sri Krishna Mandir in New Amsterdam.

During the event, Dr. Amit Telang, the India High Commissioner to Guyana, addressed the participants, highlighting the significance of the day.

He emphasized that this year marks the tenth anniversary since the United Nations declared International Yoga Day.

Dr. Telang described yoga as a practice that promotes unity and fosters physical and mental well-being.

He noted that the day is dedicated to embracing yoga and uniting citizens across all backgrounds, regardless of ethnicity, politics, or social status.

Participants expressed gratitude for the sessions, appreciating the opportunity to engage in various yoga techniques.
