Guyana commemorates its 54th anniversary as a Republic, marked by the traditional flag-raising ceremony at Public Buildings last night.

Addressing the ongoing strike by some teachers, President Ali, himself a product of two educators, expressed solidarity with their cause.
He urged patience and emphasized the necessity for sacrifices to achieve long-term prosperity for all.
Furthermore, President Ali affirmed Guyana’s resolve never to return to a period marred by electoral malpractice and dictatorship.
Reflecting on past struggles, he emphasized the nation’s journey toward democracy and unity, emphasizing the importance of defending territorial integrity.
