The Confucius Institute at the University of Guyana (CIUG) recently marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips commended the CIUG for its remarkable strides over the past decade, emphasizing its contributions to Guyana’s cultural landscape and fostering deeper appreciation for Chinese culture among Guyanese.

He underscored the institute’s role in strengthening the bonds between the two nations and promoting mutual understanding and respect.

Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Guo Haiyan, echoed these sentiments, applauding the CIUG’s efforts in promoting cultural exchange and facilitating cooperation between Guyana and China.

She emphasized the institute’s role in enhancing mutual understanding and fostering good relations between the two ethnic groups in Guyana.

The anniversary celebration featured captivating performances showcasing authentic Chinese culture, including songs, dances, and shows.

These cultural displays served to highlight the richness and diversity of Chinese heritage while further strengthening the ties between Guyana and China.
