President of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Daniel Best, has commended the Guyanese government for its approach to national and regional development, emphasizing the alignment between the country’s projects and the bank’s strategic goals.

During a three-day visit to Guyana, Best and his delegation focused on strengthening collaboration with government officials while identifying additional opportunities for investment and support.

The discussions centered on large-scale initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and regional integration.

The CDB is currently financing several major projects in Guyana, including the Linden to Mabura Hill Road, which is the largest project in the bank’s history.

Other initiatives include the Sea and River Defence Resilience Project, the Hospitality and Tourism Training Institute, and an upcoming Water Sector Enhancement Project.

These developments are expected to improve infrastructure, enhance climate resilience, and support workforce training.

Additionally, plans for Guyana’s digital school initiative were recognized as a significant step toward modernizing the country’s education sector.

The initiative is expected to provide greater access to learning resources and technological advancements.

Guyana has been a founding member of the CDB since its establishment in 1970.

Best’s visit, the first since assuming office, included meetings with President Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh, and other government representatives.

Discussions reinforced the importance of continued collaboration between Guyana and the CDB in advancing key national and regional development priorities.
