The ongoing trade mission from Trinidad’s Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCIC) is set to explore the abundant opportunities for collaboration between Guyanese and Trinidadian companies in the agro-processing sector.

Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond, highlighted Guyana’s commitment to building an attractive, reliable, and diverse economy and tourism sector through strategic investments and collaboration.

She emphasized the government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for investments to thrive, ensuring safety and security for investors.

President of the CCIC, Baldath Maharaj, expressed the mission’s goal of fostering mutual benefit and driving economic growth and prosperity in both Guyana and Trinidad.

He noted Trinidad’s expertise in manufacturing and agro-processing, complemented by Guyana’s abundant produce and arable lands.

Maharaj emphasized the potential for creating value-added products through synergies between the two countries, benefiting not only them but also the wider CARICOM community.

The trade mission aims to leverage this favorable business environment by facilitating discussions among companies from both countries, particularly focusing on opportunities in agriculture and other sectors.

Maharaj stressed the importance of collaboration in adding value to Guyana’s agricultural produce, which could lead to increased trade, employment, and enhanced food security and economic resilience.

As Guyana continues to attract investments and promote collaboration with regional partners, initiatives like the CCIC trade mission play a crucial role in exploring and capitalizing on the country’s economic potential.
