Carmelo Man-Son-Hing Leads Bishops High School to Titan Bowl XII Title

In a thrilling showdown at the National Gymnasium, Carmelo Man-Son-Hing showcased his skills as a two-way player, guiding Bishops High School to victory in the 2023 Titan Bowl. Meanwhile, in the Tertiary Knockout competition, New Amsterdam Technical Institute faced defeat against defending champions University of Guyana.

Despite a loss in the previous year’s national schools’ basketball festival final, Bishops High School bounced back with determination, securing the Youth Basketball Guyana schools’ year-end knock-out basketball tournament.

Carmelo Man-Son-Hing, a valuable addition to the team, played a pivotal role, scoring 29 points, providing 4 assists, and grabbing 7 rebounds.

The team dominated Linden Technical Institute with a final score of 67-48, with Matthias Arrindell contributing 27 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds.

In an outstanding performance, Bishops overwhelmed Linden Technical Institute throughout all four quarters, clinching the Titan Bowl XII title.

Man-Son-Hing, reflecting on his success, credited his offseason dedication to improving his game.

He expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, and friends for their instrumental support in his journey.

The Tertiary Knockout competition witnessed physical play, resulting in several fouls.

Charles Williams from New Amsterdam Technical Institute, leading his team with 27 points, faced disqualification after receiving his fifth booking.

With six minutes left in the game, his team decided to forfeit, leaving the court.

University of Guyana, the 2022 champions, led 64-49 at the time of the forfeit, with standout performances from Jether Harris, Kobe Tappin, Jushawn Bailey, and Leandre Abrams.

UG was crowned winners due to New Amsterdam Technical Institute’s decision to leave the court.
